Ebrahim Pairavi, a Persian immigrant, established Shannon fabrics in 1995. He grew up around his father’s fabric business in Iran, and at the age of sixteen he was devastated to learn that his father was unable to continue working due to illness. Being the eldest of eight children and needing to support his family, he was given the challenge of running his father’s business and keeping it thriving.
In 1988, Ebrahim immigrated to the United States with his wife Ziba and his two sons Edwin (12) and Arvin (10). The family lived in Sacramento for one year before making the move to Los Angeles. Shortly following their move, his daughter Amy Shannon was born. Ebrahim engaged in the fabric industry again, which ultimately led to the inception of Shannon Fabrics. The company is named after his daughter – who he absolutely adores. This is evidence of his commitment to family, which he extends to his current employees and clients. With his limited English skills and unfamiliarity with American Culture, he managed to overcome the odds and develop a successful business.
In 1999, soon after the stock market crash, Ebrahim faced the greatest financial Test of his life. With uncertainty he sought the assistance of his son Arvin, who was attending college. After much contemplation, Arvin joined his father’s business in July of 2000. Together they shifted the direction of the company from retail to wholesale and within a year they incorporated the business.
Today Shannon Fabrics is the premier destination for all types of plush Fabrics and is making the world a softer place. Shannon Fabrics has earned the trust of its customers, suppliers and other industry leaders. Currently they import and distribute many types of fabrics which include; fabulous faux furs, snuggly cuddle fabrics and super soft silky satins. Catering to many industries; including fabric stores, quilt shops, apparel manufactures, costume manufacturers, pet accessory manufacturers and top designers. With their signature “Cuddle” line, Shannon Fabrics has become a household name.
Ebrahim and Arvin continue to run their business with passion while maintaining a loyal, family environment for their employees, who play a vital role in the company’s success. As a united team, they have made it a constant practice to run an honest and ethical business, with a win-win mentality.
